We fell in love with wine, particularly pinot noir and chardonnay, and had always wanted to have a vineyard and winery. In 2010, after many years of searching for the right piece of land, we bought our property and planted our first acre of pinot noir that fall. Since then, we have added another acre and a half of pinot noir and an acre of chardonnay. Our first vintage producing wine was in 2016 with a limited 49 cases. We are currently producing approximately 225 cases a year, making us a micro-boutique winery.
The name Oliver Springs comes from the spring that feeds the creek between our property and our neighbor's property. We are one of a few people who get water from the spring and, although we dry-farm, we wanted to pay homage to the spring that supports our vineyard.
We enjoy the nuances that different clones of pinot noir offer and we created our wine to showcase our favorite clones. We have Kieta's Block, 100% Pommard clone, Sasha's Block, 100% 667 and our Willamette Valley is a blend of Pommard, Waedenswil, 667 and 115. All of our pinot noir is sourced from our estate vineyard.
Our current releases include 2016 and 2018 Kieta's Block, 2018 Sasha's Block and our 2018 Willamette Valley.
Stephanie loves chardonnay so we planted one acre in 2018 and purchased chardonnay from another vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains AVA, which we will continue to do until our vineyard is producing. We planted clones 95 and 76 to get a a little clone geeky. Our first chardonnay is a limited 50 cases and we have released it for our opening on Memorial Day weekend. It has a minerality note that is balanced with pineapple both on the nose and pallet.
